(Self) Portraits

All of the photos are of me since I unfortunately did not have anyone to take photos of. I sincerely apologize in advance.

This is the last photo I took before calling it good. This is one of the best photos out of everything I took, which is very tragic. I was trying to make a broad lighting portrait, but I am not sure how well it turned out. I also did the lighting by covering my phone flashlight with paper to make it less harsh. It was a frustrating time to say the least.

This is one of the first pictures I took and is also an attempt at broad lighting. It was very awkward because I was trying to position my face in a way that would not show too much of the shadowed side, but at the same time still face the camera so I can show both sides of my face. I used the camera’s built-in flash, which I covered with coffee filters.

This was an attempt at the Rembrandt lighting. I did the best I could, but the triangle is scalene and not equal or isosceles in any way. It was really hard to position the light, which was a very large factor as to why this did not work. However, I still wanted to put this on here to show that I tried the impossible.

This was an attempt at the side lighting. It was really hard for me to get the shadow side to be completely dark so I had to heavily edit it to gradually but quickly darken. This is my least favourite photo because of how awkward it looks.

This was my second to last photo and is the short lighting attempt. I think this is my most favourite because it just came out so perfectly and the lighting is quite soft. This was the photo where I discovered my phone flashlight and paper technic.

These photos were all taken in my room and took too long to take. I am actually quite proud of how the photos came out. I had a very frustrating time since I had to take these photos myself. I had to take so many different photos and experimented with many different lights until I finally decided that my phone was just perfect.
